The map below provides an overview of the opportunity zones within Humboldt County and some of the available sites currently on the market.
Capital Gains Tax Deferral: Can defer Payment of Federal taxes on the realized gains of the investment as late as December 31, 2026.
Capital Gains Tax Reduction: This can potentially reduce the tax bill on the capital gains deferred by 10% or by 15% if the investment meets the five- or seven-year window.
Elimination of Taxes on Future Gains: If the investment qualifies and is held in a Qualified Opportunity Fund for at least ten years, there is no requirement to pay federal capital gains taxes on any realized gains from the investment.
